Firefly Fireworks
Families are invited to explore the trails together with a naturalist and reminisce
about past evenings of summer spent catching fireflies. On Saturday, July 9
at 8p.m., come to Pyramid Mountain NHA in Montville Township to spend an
evening discovering these idyllic critters and head out on the trails to search for
them. With stops for hands-on activities and games, this is certain to be a night
of fun, wonder, and light! This easy walk traverses some gentle slopes across the
trails on the Turkey Mountain side of the park and explores habitats where we may
find fireflies. Come prepared with comfortable shoes and a flashlight. This hike is
approximately 1 hour, and costs $5 per person age 5 and older.

Stargazing
On warm summer nights, you may also look up to the sky and witness the beauty
of bright stars in the dark sky. On Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m. learn through a brief
presentation about the constellations that light up the sky. Build your own star
chart, which can be set to show which constellations are visible on any given night.
Gaze at the stars with a naturalist and identify constellations. Bring along a blanket
and be ready to spend a fun evening with friends. This program is 90 minutes with
both indoor and outdoor portions, and the fee is $5 for age 5 and older.
