Police Blotter: Burglary in Roxbury, altercation in Hackettstown

STAFF REPORT

HACKETTSTOWN

- On Dec. 21 at about 1:31 a.m. Hackettstown Police responded to Bea McNally’s, 109 Grand Ave., in reference to a disorderly female. When officers arrived at the establishment, the officers observed a female outside yelling. Through an investigation it was determined that Kari Friedman, 43, of Port Murray punched the victim in the mouth causing bleeding and swelling to the immediate area. Friedman stated the reason she punched the victim was because the victim allegedly called her a derogatory name. The victim refused medical attention. Friedman was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. She was released pending a court appearance.

MOUNT OLIVE

- At 12:38 a.m. Saturday, Officer Elbaum was patrolling Route 206 in the area of Main Street. Officer Elbaum observed a 2010 Volkswagen with an equipment violation and performed a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the After Restaurant. Elbaum approached the vehicle and identified the driver as well as a female passenger, Bailey Sadowski, 19, of Succasunna. During the stop Elbaum located suspected marijuana and suspected drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. After a road side investigation Sadowski was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Sadowski was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance and she has a pending court appearance.

- At 1:41 a.m. Sunday, Officer Carletta was patrolling Route 46 in the area of Old Wolfe Road. Officer Carletta observed a 2013 Kia traveling Route 46 West at a high rate of speed. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at which time the driver, identified as Deidre Mcateer, 56, of Andover, appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Carletta conducted field sobriety tests and Mcateer was arrested and transported to police headquarters. At headquarters, Mcateer submitted to chemical breath tests and was charged with D.W.I., Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Speeding, and Failure to Exhibit Documents. She was released to a sober driver and she has a pending court appearance.

ROXBURY

- Sunday, patrol responded to a residential burglary at 629 Succasunna Road. The suspects broke the kitchen window and gained access into the house. The homeowner was home and was sleeping. He awoke and the intruders fled. Mt. Arlington Police Department also responded to the area and assisted in locating the four suspects immediately. As a result, Alana Mitchell, 18 of Succasunna, Jason Lessack, 18 of Landing and two juveniles were arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Theft. All were processed at headquarters and given a Morris County Superior Court date.

SPARTA

- On Dec. 13 at about 3:42 p.m. police were dispatched to assist a worker from Child Protection and Permanency - formerly DYFS - to investigate two individuals using heroin with a two-year-old child present. After investigation, it was determined that 22 year-old Crystal M. Spear from Butler had been using the drug in the presence of her son. It was also determined that her boyfriend, 33-year-old Richard W. Baarck II from Sparta had also used heroin with the child present. Both individuals were arrested and transported to Headquarters for processing. The two-year-old child was taken into protective custody by the Child Protection and Permanency worker. Both parties were charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, and Possession of Marijuana. They were both lodged in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility on $75,000.00 bail each pending their court dates. P.O. Arlene Lippencott, Cpl. Brian Hassloch, Cpl. Marc Rubino and Det. Joseph Antonello investigated the incident.

- On Dec. 17 at about 3:30 p.m. police were dispatched to a residence after the homeowner discovered her residence was burglarized. Entry was gained by removing a screen and breaking the master bedroom window. Assorted types of jewelry were taken from the residence. After further investigation and assistance from the New Jersey State Police Sussex Barracks, 24-year-old Richard W. Joseph from Hampton Township was charged with Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief. He was already lodged in jail on a previous warrant and an additional $17,500.00 bail was added for these charges. Most of the stolen jewelry was recovered. He has a court date pending. Det/Sgt. Terrence Mulligan, Det. Jeff McCarrick, Det. Joseph Antonello, Sgt. Keith Hannam, and Cpl. Lou Takacs conducted the investigation.
