Montville HS goes into lockdown after 'panic button' pressed

Montville Township High School went into "lockdown" Friday morning after a panic button was accidentally pressed, sparking a police response.

District spokesperson Sue Marinello said a panic button was accidentally pressed late Friday morning, prompting students and staff to follow protocol and go into "lockdown" mode.

Police arrived immediately and determined the panic button was pressed accidentally and began clearing each classroom for re-entry.

School was back in session and students returned to their classes by noon.

Students and staff performed the lockdown procedure well and were safe throughout the entire experience, Marinello said.
