Thomas Edison re-enactment in Lake Hopatcong

HOPATCONG – The Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum will present a Thomas Alva Edison re-enactment on Saturday evening at St. Jude's Church Parish Hall, 40 Maxim Drive.

The program, part of the museum's dinner series, will feature Hank Fincken in a live portrayal of Edison as he speaks about the inventor's time spent at Lake Hopatcong while developing the Edison Mine.

Fincken has toured Europe, South America and the U.S. as a living history performer for more than 20 years. His historically accurate and highly entertaining appearances have been praised as provocative, insightful and enlightening, according to a press release.

An Italian buffet dinner, catered by The Grotto Restaurant of Hopatcong, will be served at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $25 per person.

Multicourse dinner-tasting event on Sunday

Sustainable Morristown presents Morris County Sunday Supper Series, a multicourse dinner-tasting experience from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Hyatt Morristown.

The event will feature live music, open bar, silent auction and an award presentation announcing the winners of the Daily Record Grassroots and Sustainable Morristown Awards.

Event sponsors include Covanta Energy, Hyatt Morristown and Kings Food Markets.

Musician Sammy Rosenbaum to perform at 'Rockin Shabbas'

MORRISTOWN – The Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael, 177 Speedwell Ave., will welcome in the Sabbath with a Rockin Shabbas at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

Guest musician and Jewish music educator Sammy Rosenbaum will lead the congregation in upbeat and uplifting davening, using melodies from Craig Taubman, Shlomo Carlebach, Jeff Klepper and Sammy's original tunes, according to a press release from the center.

Sammy Rosenbaum is a talented multi-instrumentalist blending styles ranging from jazz, funk and folk to world beat and hip hop.

He is the executive vice president and co-founder of Merkava Mentors, an initiative supporting the creation of commercially viable Jewish-inspired music, and serves on the board of the Atlanta Jewish Music Festival.

Julius Jr. children's event in Rockaway

ROCKAWAY TWP. – The Julius Jr. Experience at Rockaway Townsquare will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Kids and families are invited to step into the box and out of this world for a day of splendiferous Julius Jr. themed activities, according to a press release from the mall, which said that kids can get creative while making character masks to wear for a "Julius Jr. and friends" photo opportunity.

Guests will also have the chance to dance and sing along in the viewing area with screenings of an upcoming episode and Julius Jr. music videos. Everyone's favorite monkey, Julius Jr. himself, will be stopping by to meet and interact with kids, as well, the release said.

Home remodeling showroom holds open house on Saturday

MORRISTOWN – Global Home Improvement will host an exterior remodeling open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at its showroom location, 31 Washington St.

The event will include free food, giveaways and special offers.

"We wanted to create an interactive experience where homeowners can discover which products best fit their home improvement needs," said Adam Parnes, Global Home Improvement's marketing manager, in a press release.
