Police Blotter: Street fight in Hackettstown; DWI crash in Randolph

HACKETTSTOWN

• At 12:12 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the area of West Moore Street and Madison Street for a report of a verbal dispute. The investigation determined that Gabriel Gimenez-Gayoso, 20, of Bernardsville, was walking on Madison Street with a group of individuals and then got into a verbal dispute with a male, who was outside a residence. Gabriel then allegedly punched the male and the two males began to fight. Gabriel was issued a summons for disturbing the peace and was then released pending a court appearance.

• At 12:27 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the 100 block of Main Street for an individual who dialed 911. The investigation determined that Bruce Baker, 60, of Hackettstown, was intoxicated and dialed 911 for a ride home. Baker was issued a summons for disorderly conduct for the 911 misuse. Baker was driven home and released pending a court appearance.

LONG HILL

• On Sept. 3, police responded to the Perth Amboy Police Department to take custody of Erin Terry, 24, of Toms River. Terry had been arrested by the Perth Amboy Police Department on an outstanding Long Hill Township Warrant for $500. Police transported Terry to the Morris County Correctional facility in default of bail.

MOUNT OLIVE

• At 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Officer Lonnie Elbaum observed a 2005 Nissan Maxima traveling at 60 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone on Route 46. A motor vehicle stop was conducted near the BP gas station at which time the driver was identified as Kevin Mokund, 38, of Brooklyn. Elbaum learned that Mokund had a $89 bench warrant issued by the Hamilton Township Municipal Court. He was transported to police headquarters where he posted the cash bail and was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

• At 3:49 a.m. on Saturday, Officer Michael Carletta observed a 2011 Toyota make an unsafe lane change and tailgate another vehicle on Route 46. A motor vehicle stop was conducted after the vehicle turned onto Wolfe Road at which time the driver was identified as Damian Hrunka, 37, of Waterbury, Conn. Carletta learned that Hrunka had a $120 bench warrant issued by the Fort Lee Municipal Court so Hrunka was transported to police headquarters where another individual responded and posted cash bail. He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance in Fort Lee.

• At 12:09 a.m. on Sunday, Officer Lonnie Elbaum observed a 2010 Volkswagen traveling on Route 206 North at 66 MPH in a posted 50 MPH zone. A motor vehicle stop was conducted near Gold Mine Road at which time the driver was identified as Erik Vandevelde, 26, of Lake Hopatcong. Vandevelde exhibited signs of impairment due to alcohol consumption and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding. Kristen Bressan, 25, of Roxbury, drove to police headquarters to pick up Vandevelde, at which time it was determined that she had a revoked drivers license and a $250 warrant issued by the Pequannock Township Municipal Court. Bressan was charged with driving while suspended. An additional individual came to police headquarters to post bail for Bressan and pick up Vandevelde. All parties were released on their own recognizance pending court appearances.

RANDOLPH

• On Aug. 10, Detective Sgt. Keith Donovan responded to a residence on Millbrook Avenue for a verbal dispute between neighbors. Both parties were advised of the proper complaint procedures.

• On Aug. 11, Officer Robert Coyle responded to a business on South Salem Street for an altercation between two employees. The two parties were separated and advised of the complaint process.

• On Aug 11, Officer Brian Gallina took a report of attempted fraud. The victim stated that she received a call stating she was eligible to take part in a promotional event that provided senior citizens in her area with different benefit packages. The packages were complimentary but required only a onetime $400 payment to cover processing fees. The victim realized the call was a scam and disconnected the call.

• On Aug. 12, police responded to a residence on Quail Run for a report of a burglary. It was discovered that several items in the master bedroom had been tampered with. The front door was also damaged. Investigation to continue.

• On Aug. 12, Officer James Pritchard Jr. took a report of a house on Edgewood Terrace that had been egged. The homeowner found numerous egg shells on the front porch as well as stains on the glass front door. Investigation to continue.

• On Aug. 13, Kareen Colon, 35, Sussex, was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the West Milford Township Municipal Court. Colon was processed and released from police custody.

• On Aug. 14, Officer James Pritchard Jr. responded to a business on Route 10 for a report of a scam call from JCP&L. The owner disconnected the call and called JCP&L to confirm their account was in good standing. She was advised the call was a scam.

• On Aug. 15, Abdulai V. Nyei, 31, Newark, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by East Orange Municipal Court. Nyei posted bail and was released.

• On Aug. 15, police responded to Route 10 on the report of an injured female that had been thrown from a motor vehicle. The woman stated she was not injured, just very upset. Upon further investigation, the woman said she was not thrown from the vehicle, but pulled from it during an altercation with a passenger, when the vehicle was stopped. The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

• On Aug. 15, Officer Michael Puskas responded to Woodmont Drive on the report of a verbal dispute between neighbors. The neighbors were arguing over her dog barking when it is let outside.

• On Aug. 16, Officer Matthew Rispoli responded to South Road on a report of a motor vehicle crash. The car ran off the roadway, colliding with a mailbox and then came to rest after colliding with a tree. Upon further investigation, Michael J. Gallagher Jr., 28, Chester was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Gallagher was also issued several motor vehicle summons.
