Hopatcong kindergarten teacher honored by state

Yvonne Mortello has been recognized as Sussex County Teacher of the Year by the state Department of Education. Mortello has been teaching in the Hopatcong Borough School District since 1992 and was teaching kindergarten but in the coming school year will become the academic skills teacher. Mortello received her bachelor’s degree from Rider University and her master’s degree from Marygrove College. She is the third Sussex County Teacher of the Year from Hopatcong within the past 10 years. Other recipients were Christina Gordon and Danielle Kovach
