The signs of spring are everywhere: Baseball is back, crocuses are emerging, and St Patrick’s Day decorations fill the stores.

Since 1991, another harbinger of the change in seasons has been the Spring CraftMorristown show.

The event has made the seat of Morris County into a destination for both crafters and craft aficionados. Annually, some 150 artisans from as many as 20 states converge on Morristown Armory to display their wares.

The displays of jewelry, ornaments, decorations, and wearable items have brought as many as 5,000 attendees to the three-day show, which this year takes place from Friday, March 11, to Sunday, March 13.

“It’s an event that people look forward to and come back to every year,” said Laura Kandel, assistant director of Artrider Productions of Woodstock, New York.

Artrider produces Spring CraftMorristown, as well as its sister show in December, Holiday CraftMorristown.

“We only do shows where the customers are willing and interested,” said Kandel. “We feel very lucky and grateful to be in Morristown.”

More to see, do

The 2016 edition of the show will offer an expanded number of craft demonstrations and hands-on activities, according to Kandel. These will include sweater knitting, block printing, and other crafts.

Members of the Potters Guild of New Jersey, which has had a major presence at recent CraftMorristown shows, will demonstrate wheel-thrown pottery throughout the weekend.

Since its founding in 1987, the Potters' Guild of New Jersey (PGNJ) has provided a forum for New Jersey's ceramic artists, according to Su Nottingham, the organization’s incoming president.
