PARSIPPANY - The Central Middle School student who was found unresponsive Thursday was moved to a New York City hospital Friday for treatment.

The boy was moved from Morristown Medical Center Friday to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, New York.

He was in critical condition at that time but his mother has asked that his condition not be released Monday.

Parsippany police first received a call at about 10:57 a.m. Thursday reporting a student had collapsed and was unresponsive at Central Middle School, Patrolman Brian Conover said.

The boy was participating in gym class when he asked to be excused to the bathroom. A short time later other students entered the same bathroom and told the gym teacher that something may be wrong with the person in the bathroom stall, Conover said.

Staff immediately responded and began rendering aid to the boy, Conover said.

Responding emergency personnel began treating the victim upon arrival and transported him with police escort to Morristown Medical Center, Conover said.
