Donations of clothing and gift cards are being sought to help Hackettstown police officer Jimmy Laoudis and his family, who lost their home and possessions in a house fire on Feb. 22, 2016.

HACKETTSTOWN – Police are hosting a special dinner to support one of their own who recently lost his home and personal belongings in a fire.

The beefsteak dinner to support the family of Officer Jim Laoudis will be held April 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the American Legion Post 164, 494 Willow Grove Street in Hackettstown.

Laoudis’ home caught fire as he and his family were sleeping on Feb. 22.

He, along with his wife, son, and daughter, escaped without injury but lost the home, all their belongings, and two family pets in the blaze, according to Sgt. Darren Tynan.

Hosted by the Hackettstown-Mansfield PBA, tickets for the dinner are $50 each and can be purchased at the Hackettstown Police Department, 215 West Stiger St., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tickets include food, drinks, and entertainment and can also be purchased from any Hackettstown Police Officer. They will not be sold at the door for the event.

The police department also launched a drive for donations to help the family last month. Donations, including gift cards, can also be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at police headquarters.
