What's Ahead This Week: National Night Out events in Morris County

Food truck festival in Randolph

The Just Jersey Food Truck Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Saturday at the County College of Morris in Randolph.

More than 20 gourmet food trucks will be featured. Food will include lobster rolls, fried Wisconsin cheese curds, Cajun delicacies, empanadas, arepas, steak, New Orleans Creole cuisine, Thai entrees, grilled cheese, hot dogs, sliders, pizza, wraps, bacon creations, cupcakes and ice cream.

The festival's beer garden, open to anyone 21 and older, will feature four craft beers, Brooklyn Summer Ale, Captain Lawrence IPA, Harpoon Shandy and Ommegang Witte.

The beer garden is sponsored by Morris Tap & Grill and proceeds benefit Morris Rugby.

Live music and family activities are planned.

Admission is $5 per adult; free for children 12 and younger. Food and drink prices will vary.

Board of ed meeting in Montville

A special meeting of the Montville Board of Education is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday in the conference room of the board's administrative office, 86 River Road.

The meeting will begin with a closed session to conduct the superintendent's evaluation.

Regular business is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m., in public session with a construction project change order, the appointment of teaching staff and the approval of professional day travel on the agenda.

Events planned for National Night Out

Morris County's 12th National Night Out will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Mennen Sports Arena, 161 Hanover Ave., Morris Township.

The free event, hosted by the Morris County Park Police and the Morris County Park Commission, will feature free food, drinks, entertainment, ice skating, giveaways and other attractions.

Municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies are scheduled to participate; fire, police and rescue units will be on hand to demonstrate a wide range of skills and equipment.

Horses of the Morris County Park Police's award-winning Mounted Equestrian Unit will be at the event. The Morris County Park Police is offering free child ID cards, an initiative launched in 2000 that registers more than 1,000 children annually.

In Chatham Township, the Volunteer Fire Department will host a National Night Out from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at fire department headquarters, 495 River Road in Chatham.

The fire department will supply music, grills and soda and invites the community to bring their favorite food to barbecue. Children can explore the firehouse, trucks and firemen's gear. There will be a special appearance by McGruff, the Crime Dog.

The Rockaway Borough police will host a National Night Out event from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Firemen's Field, Beach Strret.

The event will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, soda, popcorn, face painting, magic tricks, a dunk tank and professional wrestlers.
