LONG HILL – Friday marked the sixth month anniversary of Long Hill man David Bird's disappearance.

David Bird, 55, a married Long Hill father of two, left his Millington home for a walk about 4 p.m. Jan. 11 and didn't return.

"Sadly, we don't know anything more today about what happened to David then we did on Jan. 11," said a message from Bird's family – his wife Nancy and children Alex and Natasha – in an update on their fundraising website Friday.

"Words can't describe the anguish that Alex, Natasha and I feel. I can only say 'Thank You' for your continued love, friendship and support. Without it, we would not be getting through this. Your warmth, kindness and generosity mean so much and we are forever grateful. Please keep us in your prayers."

David Bird's sister Kathy Bird also issued a statement on Facebook.

"Six months today, Jan. 11, my brother David Bird went out for a short walk. He never returned home," Kathy Bird said. "An extensive investigation and searches have yielded no clues to this mystery. There is no evidence to suggest he simply walked away; there is no evidence that he is a victim of foul play and there is no evidence that he wasn't."

Last month a $10,000 reward was been offered for information leading to his location or return. Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, where David Bird has worked as a reporter for more than 20 years, contributed to the $10,000 reward.

"Please continue to pray for David and his loving wife, Nancy Fleming Bird, and their two teenagers." Kathy Bird said. "His family and friends continue to try to wrap their heads around this unfathomable nightmare. We appreciate your love, hope and prayers."

Anyone with information about Bird should contact the Long Hill Township Police Department at 908-647-1800.

Donations to help support the Bird family can still be sent to 'The Bird Family Trust' and mailed to PO Box 234, Millington, NJ 07946.
