Shane Corrigan, 26, will be buried on Veteran's Day, according to an obituary posted by William Leber Funeral Homes.

Corrigan died near mile marker 8.1 on Route 78 West, according to Sgt. Gregory Williams, after for an unknown reason, he "lost control and ran into the rear of the tractor-trailer" with his Dodge Charger. The tractor-trailer was parked on the side of the road, off the roadway, Williams said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries. Police could not yet identify a cause for the crash. An investigation is under way.

According to his obituary, Corrigan had been living in Hackettstown but was native to Long Valley. A 2007 graduate of West Morris Central High School, he later joined the United States Army, serving during the Iraq War.

Corrigan was a CrossFit enthusiast and recently earned his Level 1 training certificate. He also played hockey for much of his life.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Linda, a brother, sister, and many extended family members.

A visitation is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Spring Lane in Long Valley, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vet Haven North, 200 Sanatorium Road, Glen Gardner, NJ 08826.
