Randolph police seize 1/2 pound of pot, arrest 5

RANDOLPH – Five men were arrested and about a half pound of marijuana seized when police raided a Center Grove Road apartment.

The arrests were the result of an extensive investigation into the local distribution of drugs from the residence, according to a press release from the police department, which described the drug operation as “a major distribution network.”

Randolph police, with the assistance of the Morris County Prosecutors Office, the Morris County Sheriff's office and the Drug Enforcement Administration, went to Apartment 3 at 328 Center Grove Road, to execute a search warrant at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police found and seized nearly 1/2 pound of marijuana, a concentrated form of marijuana called “wax” and paraphernalia used in the distribution of marijuana, the release said.

Located at the apartment was resident Jacob Frankel, 19, plus Igor Gonzalez, 18, Fredrick Sauer, 21, Andrew Williams, 20, all residing in Randolph and Mauricio Jaramillo, 20, from Victory Gardens.

All 5 men were charged with possession of greater than 50 grams of marijuana, distribution of marijuana within 500 feet of a public park, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, possession of less than 50 grams of wax, possession of paraphernalia, and conspiracy.

All 5 men were lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The months long investigation was lead by Detective Neil Caufield.
