Sparta police charge man with burglary

Staff report

SPARTA – A Somerville resident is accused of burglarizing a township home.

Police were first contacted at 4:28 p.m. on March 7 when a Natale Drive resident called to report a suspected burglary.

The call came from a neighbor of the homeowner who noticed that his neighbor’s front door was open and he could see jewelry and other items scattered in the downstairs of the residence, police said.

Police responded and processed the scene for evidence and the subsequent investigation led to Michael Salsano, 25, of Somerville, police said.

Salsano was apprehended in Somerset by members of the detective bureau several days later and charged with burglary and criminal mischief. His bail was set at $10,000.
