Responding about 8:03 p.m. on Friday to a report of an unconscious and unresponsive male in the 100 block of Main Street, Hackettstown police say they observed Santos Vasquez-Hernandez, 34, lying on the ground, appearing to be breathing and intoxicated.

According to the report, Vasquez-Hernandez became combative and started swinging his fist in the direction of the officers. The officers then asked him for identification, and he handed them his wallet.

The officers detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the wallet and located a small bag containing suspected marijuana. Santos also had in his possession a wooden pipe with suspected marijuana residue, according to the report.

Santos was transported to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center by the Hackettstown Rescue Squad and later charged with disorderly conduct, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released pending a court appearance.
