3 Powerball tickets worth $50,000 sold in Morris County

Staff and wire reports

While none of the three world-record winning $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot tickets were sold in New Jersey, the state and Morris County did have several winners of significant prizes as a result of the drawing.

Two New Jersey Lottery ticketholders won the second prize, matching 5 white balls, making those tickets worth $1 million each and one of those ticketholders added the Powerplay multiplier making that ticket worth $2 million, according to a press release from the New Jersey Lottery.

In addition, there were 46 third-prizewinners with tickets that matched 4 white balls and are worth $50,000.

“The Powerball Group instituted game changes, with one of the goals being that more players will win significantly increased, non-jackpot prizes and offer better odds of winning those prizes,” said Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery executive director.

The $2 milllion second-prizewinning ticket was purchased at a Wawa in Westampton in Burlington County.

The $1 million second-prizewinning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in Jamesburg in Middlesex County.

The winning numbers for the Wednesday drawing were: 04, 08, 19, 27 and 34. The Red Power Ball number was 10. The Multiplier number was 02.

The final jackpot reached $1,586,400,000 with a cash value of $983,500,000. Each ticketholder will receive an estimated $528,800,000. This was the 20th drawing since the most recent Powerball grand prize winner on Nov. 4.

The 46 third-prize winning ticketholders matched the 4 white balls and the Powerball making their tickets worth $50,000. Three of those tickets were purchased with the Powerplay multiplier making their tickets worth $100,000 each.

In Morris County, tickets worth $50,000 were sold at Dora’s Laundromat in Dover; Lincoln Center Liquors in Lincoln Park and Morris Plains Liberty & Convenience in Morris Plains.

In Sussex County, $50,000 tickets were sold at Andover Krauszers in Newton and at Vernon Gulf, in Vernon.
