Cops: Man caught with 2 handguns at Headquarters Plaza

MORRISTOWN – A 26-year-old Peapack-Gladstone resident was in custody Thursday after being charged with possession of two Glock handguns and hollow-nose bullets inside the East Tower of the Headquarters Plaza complex on Speedwell Avenue on Wednesday.

Andrew Pfitzenmayer was charged by town Officer James Green with unlawful possession of weapons -- two 9mm Glock handguns -- and unlawful possession of prohibited weapons and devices. Bail was set around 9 p.m. Wednesday at $100,000 and Pfitzenmayer was lodged in the Morris County jail.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz in a joint statement said that police responded to 19 Speedwell Ave. -- the address of the East Tower of Headquarters Plaza -- on a report of a man acting “suspiciously” around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Criminal complaints filed in Superior Court, Morristown, allege that Pfitzenmayer was in possession of two Glock handguns and two magazines containing hollow-point bullets. The statement and complaints did not specify whether the guns were loaded or the ammunition was being held separately by Pfitzenmayer.

Pfitzenmayer allegedly possessed one magazine with 10-rounds of 9mm hollow-point bullets and a second Glock magazine with a 15-round capacity that contained only 10 rounds of 9mm hollow-point ammunition, criminal complaints said.

Numerous law enforcement agencies responded, including the Prosecutor’s Office major crimes and intelligence units, Morristown police, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section.

A spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office said that further information beyond the official statement would not be released Thursday.
