Steve Manitta has been hired as an assistant coach for Drew's men's lacrosse team. He returns to Morris County after three years as the head coach at D-I Manhattan College in the Bronx.

Manitta launched the Roxbury lacrosse program in '93, and qualified for the NJSIAA Tournament in the third season. He was 111-47 over nine seasons at Chatham, guiding the team to a NJSIAA quarterfinal in 2002 and developing five all-Americans.

Manitta became the first lacrosse coach in Mercy College in 2010, and also served as assistant athletic director for two years. He was named East Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2011, as Mercy was nationally ranked in NCAA Division II for 10 of the 12-week season.

"He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and an unparalleled passion for the game of lacrosse," veteran Drew head coach Thomas Leanos said in a press release. "His commitment to the game is well-known, and his tireless work ethic has helped shape countless young men into the best players they can be. I can't wait to see him on the sidelines and in the office."
