Police Blotter: 90 year old charged with DWI; pot charges in Boonton Twp.

BOONTON TWP.

•At 10 p.m. on March 3, police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Valley Road after officers observed the driver throw something out the window of the vehicle. Police spoke with the driver, Jason Yudoff, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y. During the course of the traffic stop officers discovered that Yudoff was in possession of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. Yudoff was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, littering, and failure to maintain lane. Yudoff was processed and released pending a court appearance.

•At 2:30 a.m. on March 5, police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rockaway Valley Road and spoke to Calvin Mampe, 20, of Ringwood, and found he was in possession of several clear plastic baggies containing marijuana as well as multiple articles of drug paraphernalia. Mampe was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and speeding. Mampe was released pending a future court appearance.

DENVILLE

•On Thursday, police stopped a motor vehicle on Reikens Trail for several motor vehicle violations and it was determined the driver, Eric Fritts, 31, of Denville, was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was subsequently charged with possession of a CDS, possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, speeding and tailgating.

JEFFERSON

•On Feb. 2, Officer Bryan McCarthy responded to Maryann Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle and located the vehicle and found the driver, Shane Clancy, 22, of Jefferson, in possession of Suboxone and drug paraphernalia. He was charged accordingly and later released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

•On Feb. 3, Officer Tim Hecht responded to the Lakeside Shopping Center for a report of a person creating a disturbance and trespassing. Mark Sepe, 55, of Jefferson, was placed under arrest and it was later found that he had $1000 in outstanding warrants. He was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

•On Feb. 8, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Weldon Road and determined that the driver, Judith Murphy, 50, of Jefferson, was possibly intoxicated. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and later released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

•On Feb. 8, Officers stopped a vehicle on Berkshire Valley Road for speeding and determined that the driver, Amy Anderson, 39, of Stockholm, was possibly intoxicated. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test. She was later released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

•On Feb. 10, Officer James Stokes responded to Maryann Road for a report of theft of copper wire.

•On Feb. 11, Officer Chris Fabian responded to New Jersey Avenue for a report of $10 cash stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

•On Feb. 13, Officer Brian Seeley responded to Holland Mountain Road for a report of an overturned vehicle. The driver, Donald Forbes, 47, of Stockholm, was determined to be possibly intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to Newton Memorial Hospital and treated for moderate injuries. He was later charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple motor vehicle violations and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

MORRIS COUNTY PARK POLICE

•On March 13, Patrolman James Lezak was patrolling Patriots' Path in the area of Speedwell Lake in Morristown when he observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked after closing hours. His investigation led to the occupant, Fernando Valdez-Ramirez, 55, of Chatham, to be charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor-vehicle, and entering and/or remaining on Morris County Park Commission property after closing hours. Valdez-Ramirez was released from police headquarters with a court date pending.

•On March 16, Patrolman Casey Petrocy was patrolling Hedden County Park in Mine Hill when he observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked after hours. An investigation led to the occupants, Emanuel Garcia, 30, of Dover, and Melissa Cardella, 30, of Wharton, being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and entering and/or remaining in a county park after closing hours. They were both released from police headquarters with a court date pending.

MOUNT OLIVE

•At 8:17 p.m. on March 16, Officer Andrew Spotts was on Route 206, when he observed a blue Hyundai traveling with its high beam headlights activated so he stopped it in the area of Laurel Drive. Spotts spoke to the driver, Christopher M. Kelly, 35, of Netcong, and checked his credentials, which showed that Kelly’s driving privileges were suspended, and an active warrant for Kelly’s arrest for $1,000 had been issued out out of Hopatcong. Kelly was charged with improper use of multibeam headlights and driving while suspended. Kelly was able to post bail, and was released pending a court hearing.

•At 9:44 p.m. on March 17, Officer Mark Reynolds was on routine patrol on Route 46 when he observed a grey Toyota with no functioning license plate lights so he stopped it and spoke to the driver, David White, 30, of Hackettstown. As Reynolds spoke with White, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle and determined that inside of the vehicle was a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana residue, a metal grinder containing suspected marijuana, and a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. White was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and then released pending a court hearing.

•At 11:50 p.m. on March 20, the Mount Olive Police Communications Center was advised of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 46 on the Hackettstown Mountain. Officer Christopher Saunders responded to the area and located the suspected vehicle in a gas station that was closed for business. Upon speaking with the driver, Richardson Johnston, 90, of Clifton, Saunders detected that he was impaired due to alcohol consumption. Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted at which time Johnston was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Johnston was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released to a sober driver pending a municipal court appearance
