Long Valley man charged with providing alcohol to teens

Staff report

WASHINGTON – A township resident has been charged with allowing teenagers to drink on his property.

Police got a report on Saturday at 8:41 p.m. about a party where alcohol was being provided to underage juveniles at a private home on William Way in the Long Valley section of the township.

Officers Kevin Barnes, Robert Brobst and Sgt. Michael Hade responded to the home and found several juveniles who appeared to be intoxicated walking in the roadway or standing in the front yard, police said.

The officers located additional juveniles who had been consuming alcohol inside the home and in the backyard.

Several of the juveniles were transported to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center by the Long Valley First Aid Squad for severe intoxication. All other juveniles were released to their parents at the scene.

The homeowner, Gregory Sansome, 56, was inside the residence when police arrived. He was issued a complaint summons for making his property available for consuming alcoholic beverages by persons who are under the legal age. Sansome was given a mandatory court date in the Washington Township Municipal Court.
