Car crashes into restaurant in Hackettstown

Staff report

HACKETTSTOWN – Route 46 was closed for about an hour Wednesday after a car crashed into a restaurant, police said.

At 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to Marley’s Gotham Grill on Main Street after they got a report about a vehicle that struck the front of the building.

The ensuing investigation determined that Susan Karner, 59, of Mansfield Twp., was attempting to park her 2014 Subaru, when the vehicle accelerated striking an electrical box, parking meter, a tree and the front of Marley’s Gotham Grill.

The front portion of the building received minimal damage, police said. The restaurant was open for business as usual on Thursday.

There were no injuries reported and no summonses were issued though Route 46 was closed between Route 517 and West Moore Street for approximately one hour, police said.

Assisting at the scene were the Hackettstown Fire Department, Hackettstown Rescue Squad and the Hackettstown Department Of Public Works.
