FAIRFAX, VA. -  A Morristown man was arrested for assault in a Washington suburb last weekend after he allegedly threw a sandwich at another man in a pizza shop, police said.

At about 9 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Firenza Pizza on Fairfax Boulevard after a 50-year-old Dunn Lorning, VA man reported a man had thrown a sandwich at him, police said.

The man – later identified as Jonathan Magnes, a 32-year-old resident of Morristown - then fled the area in a vehicle and the 50-year-old followed in another vehicle, police said.

Responding officers observed the two when they responded to the area, and Magnes was taken into custody, at which point officers determined he was intoxicated, police said.

Magnes was taken to the Adult Detention Center in Fairfax where he was charged with assault and battery, driving under the influence of alcohol, and refusal of blood and breath test.

Magnes was then released on his own recognizance, police said.

The victim was not injured by the sandwich, police said.
