Children who visit Santa at The Mall at Short Hills will be surrounded by images of some familiar friends.

The mall's Ice Palace will have a "Peanuts" theme this year, developed in partnership with 20th Century Fox to promote "The Peanuts Movie," in theaters Nov. 6. The Ice Palace also opens Nov. 6 in the Grand Court on the lower level and will remain at the mall through Dec. 24.

The interactive Ice Palace has a 30-foot dome complete with falling snow, a light show and other family-friendly activities. Kids can watch scenes from the new movie, create an "icy hand print" to compare to Snoopy's paw and Woodstock's wing, and have pictures taken with a life-size graphic of Snoopy and his dog house.

Those who visit Santa will receive a gift.

The Mall at Short Hills is at Route 24 and JFK Parkway in Short Hills. Anchor stores include Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Regular shopping hours are 10 a.m to 9 p.m., Mondays through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Extended hours will be offered for the holidays. Department store and restaurant hours may vary.

This is not the first time the Mall at Short Hills has partnered with a children's movie: Last year's Ice Palace capitalized on "Frozen Fever" with a theme based on the Disney hit.

It remains to be seen whether "The Peanuts Movie" will have the staying power of "Frozen," but the "Peanuts" characters already are strongly associated with the fall and winter holiday seasons, due to such classic specials "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Meanwhile, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and pals have been popping up here and there.

The website for "The Peanuts Movie" allows fans to "Peanutize" themselves, creating an avatar to share on social media. You start with the basic "Peanuts" head and then choose skin color, hair color and style, facial expression, clothes, accessories and background. Try it on peanutsmovie.com.

Artist Tom Everhart currently has an exhibition of paintings inspired by the characters and art work of "Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz. “I Got Ants In My Pants, And I Need To Dance Paintings” runs through Dec. 1 at AFA Gallery, 54 Greene St. in Manhattan.

And Snoopy and Woodstock are perennial crowd-pleasers at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The pair will again float through Manhattan on Nov. 26.
