Bickford benefit concert tonight

MORRISTOWN – The Fifth Annual Bickford Benefit Concert will be held at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, Nov. 16, at the Morris Museum.

Dan Levinson (clarinet/sax) will be leading the band and he has hired an all-star cast of area jazz performers to share the swinging ride with him. The evening will feature Bria Skonberg (trumpet/vocals), Nicki Parrott (bass/vocals), Molly Ryan (guitar/vocals), Rossano Sportiello (piano), Joe Midiri (reeds), Jim Fryer (trombone), and Paul Midiri (drums).

“The Annual Bickford Benefit Concert provides both great music and much needed support,” said Eric Hafen, director of the Bickford Theatre. “This all-star band will give our guests a concert they won’t soon forget.”

Proceeds from the benefit provide support for future programming at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre.

Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door and may be purchased online at www.morrismuseum.org, by phone at 973-971-3706, or in person at the Bickford Theatre Box Office.

Open poetry reading at Chatham cafe

CHATHAM – Poetry and Pastries open poetry reading is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Cafe Beethoven, located at 262 Main St.

Listeners are welcome.

The $10 fee includes a variety of coffees, pastries and poem readings.

‘Faith & Farewell’ program at Randolph library

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Library will host “Faith & Farewell,” a program about nurturing elderly parents and preparing to say goodbye, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the library, 28 Calais Rd.

Randolph resident and veteran hospice chaplain Jack DiMatteo will give a presentation and lead a discussion about the “Seven Spiritual Themes” of preparing to say farewell to elderly parents. DiMatteo, also known as “Pastor Jack,” will share insights gained from his years of counseling thousands of families preparing for the loss.

‘A Christmas Carol’ at Morris Hills high school

ROCKAWAY – Students at Morris Hills High School will perform their annual fall play 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 19-21, in the high school auditorium, 520 W. Main St.

This year’s production is “A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Renee and James Lavin from the novel by Charles Dickens.

Tickets are $8 on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon; $10 for Friday and Saturday evening performances.

Teen night Saturday at Mountain Lakes Y

MOUNTAIN LAKES – The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA has a teen night planned 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at 100 Fanny Rd.

The night will include swimming, a kids zone, gym games, music, dancing, and snacks.

The event is free for members; non-members pay $5.
