PARSIPPANY – Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Route 46 Indian restaurant and injured an employee this weekend, Parsippany police said.

Parsippany Police Department

At about 7:26 a.m. Saturday, police received a call reporting a robbery had occurred at the Mysore Woodlands restaurant on Route 46, Patrolman Brian Conover said.

Officers responded to the scene and a preliminary investigation indicated an employee, a 34-year-old Parsippany man, arrived to work at the restaurant at about 5:35 a.m. Saturday to begin prepping for the day, Conover said.

A short time later, the employee heard noises coming from the dining area, at which point he encountered an unknown male suspect, Conover said.

The suspect asked the employee where the money was located and an altercation took place, during which time the employee was struck by a wooden object and a glass, Conover said.

After the brief struggle, the suspect fled the scene, entered a four-door black vehicle parked on Old Bloomfield Avenue and left the area, Conover said.

Nothing was reported stolen from the restaurant, Conover said.

The 34-year-old employee suffered facial injuries due to the struggle and was taken to Saint Clare’s Hospital by Par-Troy EMS for treatment, Conover said.

The employee described the suspect as a skinny black man, about five-foot-five, with long braided hair or dreadlocks, Conover said. He was wearing a white jacket or hooded sweatshirt Saturday morning.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division assisted Parsippany Det. Marcin Czajka in the investigation.

The incident remained under investigation Monday, and anyone with information is asked to call 973-263-4311.
