RANDOLPH – Firefighters were able to contain a fire that injured one person to a single room in a township apartment Tuesday evening, Fire Official Richard Briant said.

Officials received a call from residents of Quaker Village apartment reporting a fire at about 10:57 p.m. Tuesday, Briant said.

Firefighters arrived at Building B of the apartment complex, located off of Quaker Church Road in Randolph, to find the blaze in the bedroom of one apartment in the mult-family home, Briant said.

Briant said he was worried the fire would spread to other rooms and apartments but firefighters were able to put the fire out before it could spread any further.

People in nearby apartments were told to evacuate the area as firefighters attacked the blaze, but were allowed back into their homes once the fire was under control, Briant said.

The apartment was home to a family, and one family member suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, Briant said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Briant said.

Randolph police, fire, and EMS responded to the scene along with firefighters from Dover, Roxbury, and Netcong.
