Butterfly program, parade in Montville

MONTVILLE – Celebrate the beauty of New Jersey’s butterflies and other pollinators at the Second Annual Butterfly Bonanza, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area, 472 Boonton Ave.

The highlight of the event will be the Pollinator Parade at 2 p.m. Join in the procession will be costumed naturalists disguised as animals that pollinate plants, including hummingbirds, moths, bats, bees and butterflies. The procession will follow performer Ken Gallipeau as he sings the pollination song for all to join in.

Participants who wear their own costume will receive free native plant seeds to take home. Attendees can create a costume at the Pollinator Parade Craft station, or parade along waving scarves and streamers.

All ages are welcome. The entrance fee is $4 per adult, $3 per child age 3 and older, free for ages 2 and under.

Blood drive coming to Parsippany Thursday

PARSIPPANY – People who donate blood, platelets or plasma at Community Blood Services’ Parsippany Donor Center noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, will receive a complimentary gift card to Smashburger.

Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years old (16 with parental permission) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Complimentary non-fasting cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure screenings are offered with each donation.

The center is located at 1259 Route 46 East, Building 4, Suite 129, Parsippany.

Denville senior facility hosts garage sale

DENVILLE – The St. Francis Residential Community, an independent senior living facility, is hosting a 2-day garage sale 3-5 p.m. Friday, June 12, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at 9 Pocono Rd., in Denville.

There will be a special sale with bargains and reduced prices, household items, furniture, collectibles and more. Proceeds benefit resident activities.

5K run in Hanover Saturday

HANOVER – Hanover's Run for Health 2015 will be held Saturday, June 13, beginning at Whippany Chiropractic, adjacent to Whippany Park High School, located at 133 Whippany Road.

Check-in starts at 7 a.m. for pre-registrants; the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Same day registration closes at 7:45 a.m.

The event is rain or shine and is open to all ages. The run is a USATF certified 5K course (3.1 miles) through the neighboring areas with water stations along the route.

Pre-registration is $25 per adult, $15 per child; after June 10, cost is $30 per adult and $20 per child. Refreshments will be provided after the race.

Color fun run for all ages in Succasunna

ROXBURY – The Roxbury Interact Club Color Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 14, at Horseshoe Lake Path, located at 72 Eyland Avenue in the Succasunna section of the township.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Participants will wear white T-shirts and walk, jog or run around Horseshoe Lake through color stations, turning the T-shirt into a rainbow of colors.

The run is approximately three miles in distance and is not a timed event. Food and entertainment will be featured. The event is open to all ages.

Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased at Roxbury Recreation. Free race T-shirt to the first 350 registrants. Day of event tickets will be available for $30.

Proceeds will help with medical costs for 7-year old Joey, diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.

Morristown stable holds open house Sunday

MORRISTOWN – Seaton Hackney Stables is hosting an Open House & Riding Exhibition 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the stables, located at 440 South St.

The event is open to the public and will include pony and hay wagon rides. A riding exhibition will be featured, displaying different levels of riding from 3-year-old Petite Equestrians up to Cross Country.

The Advanced Leadership Program will give a jumping display and a special performance will be given by 13-year-old horse trainer Cat Zimmerman with Monche the Mustang in preparation for the Youth Mustang Challenge Competition to be held in Massachusetts in August.
