1 Thing We Love About Morris County: Irish coffee

Morristown Daily Record

The Daily Record has a new feature called 1 Thing We Love About Morris County. Each weekday around noon we will post a picture and a brief description of something in Morris County, or the surrounding area, that we love. Today, we warm up with a classic cocktail.

Irish coffee from The Quiet Man

There are plenty of places in the area to get this classic after-dinner cocktail, but few do it better than this Dover Irish pub, whose bartenders know how to make sure the whipped cream stays floating on top.

The coffee is prepared in a glass with just three additional ingredients: Powers Irish whiskey, brown sugar, and fresh whipped cream.

If you happen to catch owner Frank Burke, he’ll be happy to tell you about the history of the beverage, which got its start at the Shannon Airport decades ago. What better way to wash down that Shepherd’s Pie?
