Kinnelon police: Marijuana ‘shake’ leads to stolen debit cards

STAFF REPORT

KINNELON – A man driving with a broken taillight was stopped on Route 23 and found to be in possession of drugs and allegedly stolen debit cards, police said.

At 11 p.m. on Friday, Officer Mark Ehrenburg noticed a vehicle with an inoperable brake light and a cracked windshield traveling on Route 23 so he stopped it.

Ehrenburg spoke to the driver, Wally Manasse, 34, of Irvington, and detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle and observed a small amount of marijuana “shake” on the floor of the vehicle, police said. Shake is a slang term for crumbs of marijuana that can settle at the bottom of a bag of marijuana.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed multiple prescription drugs including Alprozolam, Oxycodone, Roxicet and Lorazepam, police said.

None of the pills found where in the proper pill containers nor were any of the pills found to have been prescribed to Manasse, police said.

Also found within the search were 13 Visa debit cards which were believed to have been stolen from multiple individuals, police said.

Manese was charged with possession of stolen credit cards, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued summonses for maintenance of lamps, cracked windshield and possession of a controlled substance in a motor vehicle.

Manese was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility with bail set at $15,000.
