MOUNT OLIVE – Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a gas station attendant Sunday night after pepper spraying him.

At about 11:01 p.m. Sunday, Officer Chris Saunders and Detective Anthony Gardner responded to the Exxon gas station on Route 206 for a reported robbery.

Upon arrival, officers learned a 59-year-old male employee had been pepper sprayed as he was closing the station for the night, police said.

The 59-year-old told officers that a white male, about 30 years old and 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slender build approached him and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, police said.

The man then demanded money and the 59-year-old handed him all the money he was carrying at that time, police said.

The man then fled the gas station in an unknown direction, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Mount Olive Police Investigations Unit at 973-691-0900 ext. 7203.
