ROXBURY – 165 girls and boys ran, biked and swam around Horseshoe Lake for Roxbury’s second annual Tri Harder Kids Triathlon.

Kids swim in the Tri Harder Triathlon at Horseshoe Lake.

The triathlon, held last Thursday evening for children ages 4 to 12, was sponsored by Roxbury Recreation and Marty’s Reliable Cycle.

Depending on the age group, participants swam between 25 and 100 meters, biked between one-half and two miles, and ran between one-quarter and 1.5 miles.

Every participant in the untimed race received a medal from Councilman Fred Hall and a Cliff’s Ice Cream certificate for one ‘Skyscraper’ cone from Councilman Mark Crowley.

Roxbury Recreation lifeguards and camp counselors volunteer for the event, along with parishioners from Succasunna’s Hillside and First Presbyterian churches.

Dominick LoScalzo and Luca Argenziano hold their coupons for free treats at Cliff’s Ice Cream after completing their triathlon.

Roxbury Recreation is planning a third Tri Harder Kids Triathlon next summer.
