ROXBURY – A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a truck while walking on route 46 in Roxbury Monday evening, Roxbury Police spokesperson Jennifer Dillard said.

At about 6:50 p.m. Monday, the unidentified 25-year-old man was walking on Route 46 and decided to cross by Second Street near the Dairy Queen when he was struck by a 2010 Chevy Silverado driven by a 34-year-old Randolph man traveling east on Route 46, Dillard said.

The 25-year-old had no identification on him and police are still trying verify his identity, Dillard said.

Police were in the area of Dell Avenue earlier that evening following up on a report of a man walking in the road, but Dillard could not confirm whether that was the same individual who was struck by the truck.

The victim was flown by New Jersey State Police helicopter to Morristown Medical Center. There was no additional information available on the victim’s status as of noon Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation, but the 34-year-old driver, whose name was not released, was not issued any summonses at the time of the accident.
