Major roads in five Morris County municipalities will be resurfaced over the next several weeks.

Milling, paving and road improvement work is set to start late this month and in early August in Chatham, Dover, Mine Hill, Randolph and Rockaway Twp., according to a press release from the county, which said the work is part of Morris County’s enhanced 2015 road resurfacing program.

The work will be done on Center Grove Road in Randolph, Blackwell Street in Dover and Rockaway Twp., Watchung Avenue in Chatham, and Canfield Avenue in Randolph and Mine Hill, the release said.

“This work is part of the county freeholder board’s aggressive efforts to improve roads countywide, to ensure they are in top shape and safe for motorists who count on us to maintain these roads,’’ said Morris County Freeholder David Scapicchio, who is the county governing board’s liaison on public works projects.

The freeholders budgeted more than $6 million in their 2015 capital program for roadway resurfacing, Scapicchio said.
