Newton police find 94 pills after 3 car crash

NEWTON – A town resident is facing a variety of charges after he caused a three car accident and was found to be in possession of more than 90 pills that he did not have a prescription for, police said.

Police got involved after they received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Spring Street at 10:59 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a 2011 Acura being operated by Roland Bossi, 65, of Condit Street, had struck a 2001 GMC Yukon from behind pushing it into the rear of a 2011 Honda Civic, police said.

The Yukon and the Civic were both legally parked on Spring Street and unoccupied at the time of the collision, police said.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Bossi was intoxicated and in possession of 40 Oxycontin pills, and 54 Roxicodone pills without having a prescription for them.

Bossi was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence within a 1,000 feet of a school zone, careless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to exhibit a valid insurance card and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Bossi was not injured in the accident and was processed and released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
