Police Blotter: Hypodermic needles in Hanover; ecstasy in Madison

HACKETTSTOWN

•At 4:46 a.m. on Monday, an officer observed a vehicle traveling north on West Stiger Street with the vehicles passenger side wheels scrapping the curb and also observed the vehicle traveling below the posted speed as it passed the Hackettstown Police Department. The officer then initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle on West Stiger Street and spoke to the driver, Brayan Morales-Perez, 20, of Hackettstown, and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Morales-Perez was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane. Morales-Perez was released pending a court appearance.

HANOVER

•At 8:29 p.m. on May 6, Patrolman David Littman responded to a child care center on South Jefferson Road on a report of a stolen cell phone from a car. A witness described the actor as a thin Latino male wearing a white T-shirt around his hand, enter a vehicle and take a cell phone. The male then left the area in a Nissan Altima with Pennsylvania plates. The victim said he left the cell phone on his front seat and that it was an iPhone 5C valued at $400. The license plate was not obtained by the witness.

•At 7:33 p.m. on May 6, a Morristown resident reported finding a plastic bag by the entrance of TJ Maxx at the Morris County Mall. The bag contained 15 glassine folds bearing numbers 1738 in red, 7 white pills with G3722 inscribed on them and three hypodermic needles with orange tips. The bag was taken by Patrolman Rich Camasta to be destroyed.

MADISON

•At 4:44 p.m. on April 24, Patrolman Christopher Burans arrested Hassan Yasin, 23, of Newark, after he observed an alleged motor vehicle violation on Main Street. While Burans was explaining the violation to Yasin, the odor of marijuana was detected inside his vehicle. Suspected marijuana and MDMA (Ecstasy) was discovered inside the vehicle. Yasin was charged with possession of MDMA and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Yasin was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in the Morris County Superior Court.

•At 10:26 p.m. on April 24, Patrolman Kevin Marhefka arrested Jennifer Till, 46, of Morristown. Madison officers responded to a dispute taking place at a Main Street residence and learned that Till allegedly assaulted a resident at the home and broke a window during the dispute. Till was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief. Bail was set at $3,500 with no 10 percent option. Till was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of bail. Several out of town warrants totaling $1,100 were additionally discovered for Till.

•On April 25, 2015 at 10:22 p.m., Patrolman Bart Glab arrested Arthur Imperatore, 52, of Englewood after he allegedly observed Imperatore speeding on Shunpike Road. While Glab was speaking with Imperatore, the odor of an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath. Glab determined Imperatore was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit. Imperatore was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving along with other motor vehicle offenses.

MOUNT OLIVE

•On May 9, Officer William Galop was dispatched to the A&P shopping center for a report of past tense shoplifting. The store loss prevention employee had video of a male and female suspect shoplifting on several occasions. After an investigation the suspects were identified as Michelle, 38, and Matthew Bishop, 41, of Hackettstown. Galop met with the suspects and charged with Matthew wiht shoplifting and use of a juvenile during the commission of a crime. Michelle was charged with shoplifting. Both were released pending a court appearance.

SPARTA

•At 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Sgt. John Lamon stopped a 2014 Toyota on Route 15 at the 12 mile mark for speeding. The driver, Chelsea M. House, 22, of Whippany, was determined to be possibly intoxicated so Lamon turned over the DWI investigation to Officer Arlene Lippencott. After failing a series of Field Sobriety Tests, House was charged with DWI and speeding. House was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court appearance.
