Motorcycle ride fundraiser event in Morris Plains

MORRIS PLAINS – The Puppy Rescue Ride, a motorcycle event to benefit The Puppy Rescue Mission, will be held on Saturday, June 6, and will begin and end at Garden State Harley Davidson, 1775 Route 10 East in Morris Plains.

Registration opens at 10 a.m.; ride begins at 11 a.m.

The Puppy Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization, raises funds and assists in rescuing the animals adopted by U.S. soldiers in war zones, including Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq, and transports the animals back to the soldier's homes.

All proceeds will benefit The Puppy Rescue Mission.

Saturday car wash fundraiser in Roxbury

ROXBURY – Boy Scout Troop 159, Roxbury, will hold its annual car wash fundraiser 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 203 Eyland Ave.

The event is rain or shine. Tickets are $5 for cars and $7 for larger vehicles.

Tickets can be purchased at the church on the date of the event.

Rugby scholarship event in Morristown

MORRISTOWN – Morris Rugby will hold its 10th Annual Gibby's Day, a celebration of life and rugby, supporting the David Gibson Memorial Scholarship fund, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Veteran's Memorial Field on Zeek Road in Denville.

In memory of David, a scholarship award will be presented at Gibby's Day to a Lions rugby high school senior boy and girl. The scholarship is intended to be used towards furthering the recipient's academic or rugby career.

There will be a touch rugby game, food and drinks, tricky tray prizes and children's games.

Admission $20 for age 21 and older; $10 for age 10 and older; children 9 and younger are free; with a $50 maximum per family.

Roxbury holds fishing derby Saturday

ROXBURY – Roxbury Recreation is hosting the 21st Annual Fisherman's Lane Fishing Derby 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Horseshoe Lake Island, 72 Eyland Ave.

Bring your own bait and pole. There is no fee or badge required. The lake will be freshly stocked the night before. Prizes will be awarded for 3-5, 6-9, 10-12, and 13-18 age groups.

The event is in memory of Marc Brandon and Kevin Gilmer.

Relay for Life set for Saturday night at CCM

RANDOLPH – The American Cancer Society of Central Morris County's Relay for Life will take place beginning 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, through 6 a.m. Sunday, June 7, at County College of Morris, located at 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph. Registration will start 2 p.m. Saturday.

The theme for this year's event is "The '80s," in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the inaugural Relay for Life in 1985.

There will be themed lap races, face painting for children, dance contests and more.

The event is part of an international movement where 4 million people in more than 20 countries participate to raise funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay For Life initiative.
