No students were injured Friday morning in an early-morning school bus crash at a Route 206 intersection in Chester Township, according to police.

Bus driver Gregg Matechak, 56, of Hackettstown was crossing over Route 206 from Lamerson Road to Foxchase Road in a 2003 Blue Bird bus when he was struck by a 2011 Nissan Murano driven by Miguel Velasquez, 23, of Piscataway, according to the report.

There were seven high school students on the bus and no one was injured. The Washington Township Board of Education school bus was transporting students to West Morris Mendham High School. None of the seven students on the bus were injured, according to Lt. Thomas Williver.

Velasquez was transported to Morristown Medical Center for treatment. His condition was unknown.

Another bus arrived at the scene to transport the students to school, Williver said.

The cause of the accident, which was reported at 6:49 a.m. and limited Route 206 drivers to one lane for about an hour, is still under investigation. Route 206 was down to one lane with alternating traffic for about one hour.
