We're going on the road for the Daily Record Summer Pizza Tour in search of the perfect slice of pizza in Morris County and we are inviting our readers to join us.

Homemade sausage pizza by Clint Valleau.

Here is the schedule for upcoming Saturday Pizza Tour stops; all times are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Aug. 1: Columbia Inn in Montville, 29 Main Rd., with reporter Michael Izzo.

Aug. 22: Tabor Pizza in Morris Plains, 510 Tabor Rd., with reporter Leslie Ruse.

Reservations are required. Seating is limited. Attendees will purchase their own meals.

To register: Email eabreu@GannettNJ.com or call 973-428-6643.

The tour kicked off Saturday, May 30, at Hickory Tree Pizza and Restaurant, 641 Shunpike Rd. in Chatham.

We enjoyed a slice of Grandma's pizza on June 20 at Joe's Pizzeria in the Kenvil section of Roxbury.

We tasted a few different slices at The Godfather of Morristown, 10 Lafayette Ave.

Our reporters and food editor will be visiting the rest of the locations this summer and will meet with readers at the events to share their passion for pizza and talk about local events and news in town.

We'll also visit home cooks who have a talent for making the best homemade pizza, according to the nominations sent in by family members.

You've already met home pizza chef Clint Valleau, of the Whippany section of Hanover Township, in a Table cover story.

We shared the story of Tom Consol, who lives in the Long Valley section of Washington Township, and is known for his great homemade pies.

Tell us about your favorite home chef or pizza place. Leave a comment or email eabreu@GannettNJ.com.
