Police Blotter: Missing wallet in Hanover; wanted person in Hackettstown

FLORHAM PARK

•At 3:12 a.m. on Nov. 22, police were contacted by the Ramsey Police Department and advised of an assault that occurred in their town. They advised that the suspect was believed to be traveling to a residence in Florham Park and was reported by to be under the influence. They further advised that an arrest warrant for assault has been issued by their Municipal Court. Officer Joel Phillips located the vehicle and operator, Jaysen A. Nauta, 38, of Flanders, and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Subsequent field sobriety tests indicated Nauta was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Nauta was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving and then released to a responsible adult pending a Florham Park Municipal Court date. Additionally the arrest warrant issued by the Ramsey Municipal Court was served on Nauta who was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Ramsey.

HACKETTSTOWN

•At 8:48 p.m. on Nov. 28, an officer initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle on East Moore Street for a moving violation. While the officer was talking to the driver, Keisha Ruiz, 18, of Hackettstown, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The ensuing investigation determined that the driver and a passenger, Kelsey Barker, 18, of Allamuchy, both possessed the marijuana cigar. Ruiz was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and maintenance of lamps. Barker was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Both were released pending a court appearance.

•On Nov. 27, Francis Mandeville, 52, of Hackettstown, was arrested on a wanted person warrant. The warrant was issued by the Randolph Twp Police Department and the original offense was for theft by failure to make required disposition of property. Mandeville was then turned over to the Randolph Twp Police Department.

HANOVER

•At 4:02 p.m. on Nov. 23, Patrolman Richard Camasta arrested Sycoia Lowe, 25, of Morris Plains, on an active warrant issued out of Allentown, Pa. and was a no bail warrant for terroristic threats, harassment, and disorderly conduct. Sycoia was stopped on Frederick Place after the license plate reader alerted to the registration on the vehicle being suspended. Sycoia was issued summonses for driving with a suspended registration, Driving without a license, failure to produce documents, failure to have the permit for driving in her possession, and not having a supervisor with her while driving. Sycoia was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility to await being picked up by Allentown Police.

•At 5:49 p.m. on Nov. 23, Patrolman John Schauder arrested Nathalia Daza, 26, of Randolph, on active warrants. The first warrant was issued by Diver Court for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while suspended with bail set at $500. The second warrant was issued out of Elmwood Park Court for failure to appear on an original charge of failure to maintain lights, in the amount of $393. Daza had been found by Schauder as he was patrolling the parking lot of Hanover Marriott and checked out an occupied vehicle that she was in.

•At 10:13 a.m. on Nov. 27, Patrolman Richard Camasta responded to a residence in Whippany where a woman wanted to report a lost or stolen wallet. The victim last remembered having her wallet on Wednesday in Shop Rite on Hanover Avenue. The victim had already gone to Shop Rite to see if the wallet had been turned in but it hadn’t. The security at Shop Rite informed the victim that they had surveillance tape of the wallet being taken at the cash register. The video showed that the victim left her wallet on the counter and the next customer placed the wallet in a plastic bag and left the store. Between store records and a look up on the license plate on the car the actor was driving, she was identified. The actor was found and had the wallet intact and said she was going to mail it back to the victim. The wallet was returned to the owner with nothing missing. At the time of this report the actor has not been charged with taking the wallet.

MOUNT OLIVE

•At 12:29 a.m. on Saturday, Officer Andrew Spotts was on a routine traffic stop with a Netcong police unit on Route 46 west, when he observed a black Toyota pass his patrol vehicle in the right lane of travel. The Toyota failed to move over to the left lane of travel to pass the patrol vehicles so Spotts followed it and observed the driver make an illegal left turn from Route 46 onto Mount Olive Road. Spotts executed a motor vehicle stop in the area of St. Jude's Church and spoke to the driver, Erin J. Beebe, 19, of Allentown, Pa., and a passenger, Ryan T. Beebe, 21, of Easton, Pa., and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Erin Beebe also appeared to be impaired due to alcohol so she was asked to perform field sobriety tests before she was placed under arrest and secured in the rear of Spotts patrol vehicle. Spotts then spoke with Ryan Beebe, and had him exit the vehicle. A search of the Toyota produced a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana residue, a metal grinder containing suspected marijuana, and a one hitter pipe, containing suspected burnt marijuana. Ryan Beebe was also placed under arrest. Erin Beebe was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to move over for stopped emergency vehicle, improper turns, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Ryan Beebe was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Both parties were released to a sober driver pending court hearings.

•At 11:51 a.m. on Saturday, Officer Christopher Saunders was on Route 206 North when he observed a grey Infiniti pass his patrol vehicle and noted the car had multiple equipment violations as well as an expired inspection sticker. Saunders executed a motor vehicle stop and spoke to the driver, Matthew Fennimore, 27, of Flanders, and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Saunders also observed an open container of alcohol in the center console of the vehicle. Fennimore was asked to exit his vehicle and a search of the vehicle produced a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana residue. Fennimore was placed under arrest, and transported to police headquarters. Fennimore was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to inspect and unclear plates. Fennimore was released pending a court hearing.

SPARTA

•At 5:51 p.m. on Nov. 26, police were dispatched to the intersection of Woodport Road and Pine Cone Lane for the report of a male passed out in his vehicle in the lane of travel. Before patrol’s arrival, additional callers reported that the individual had awakened and continued on Woodport Road towards the center of town. Callers also advised that the vehicle was a silver Kia. Cpl. Brian Hassloch observed a vehicle fitting this description on Woodport Road near Mohawk Avenue and saw it cross over the double yellow lines as it proceeded on to Main Street. After stopping the vehicle and speaking to the driver, Richard Manzini, 53, from Clifton, Hassloch determined he may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A series of Field Sobriety Tests were administered which Manzini failed. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and careless driving. He was also charged criminally with possession of drug paraphernalia after a marijuana smoking pipe was discovered upon his arrest. He was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court date.
