Police say man pulled gun in Route 23 road rage case

FRANKLIN – A Connecticut man is accused of pulling a gun on another motorist during an alleged road rage incident on Route 23.

John A. Gannon, 57, of Danbury Ct., was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $10,000.

At 8 p.m. on Friday, police were contacted about an erratic driver / "road rage" incident on Route 23.

Further reports revealed the operator of one of the vehicles was in possession of a firearm, police said.

The victim reported that the driver of a vehicle had displayed a firearm after they had been involved in a confrontation while they were both traveling on Route 23. police said.

Police spoke to the other driver, John A. Gannon, 57, of Danbury Ct., and learned he was in possession of a firearm.

The ensuing investigation determined that Gannon brandished the firearm in the direction of but not at the driver of another vehicle while pulling into the "Quick Chek" in Franklin, police said.

Gannon is alleged to have brandished the firearm in order to intimidate the other driver, police said.

Gannon was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and his bail was set at $10,000. Gannon was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail.
