Snow plow strikes, kills Sussex man checking mail

HARDYSTON— No charges have been filed after a snow plow struck and killed a man who was checking his mail in northern New Jersey.

Police tell the New Jersey Herald the plow was backing up while cleaning streets in Hardyston Township when it hit 83-year-old Nicholas Verduin. Verduin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The plow was driven by 52-year-old Geoffrey Stewart and owned by a landscaping company.
