ROXBURY – A woman allegedly stabbed the man she was dating after the two had an argument in a township motel on Monday, police said.

Roxbury and Mount Arlington officers responded to the Roxbury Circle Motel on Route 46 in Ledgewood at 7:23 p.m. Monday evening for a report of fighting, Roxbury Police spokesperson Jennifer Dillard said.

Upon arrival, police discovered two individuals had been involved in an altercation, Dillard said.

Elizabeth O’Neill, 56, of Ledgewood and Steven Standeart, 59, of Ledgewood who are in a “dating relationship,” became involved in an argument leading both to assault each other, Dillard said.

Standeart first struck O’Neill, who proceeded to stab Standeart in the forearm with a knife, Dillard said.

O’Neill was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and bodily injury and lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility with her bail set at $25,000.

Standeart was charged with simple assault and released. He did not go to the hospital for treatment, Dillard said.
