The Parsippany Hills High School football team drove through the competition this season on the way to its first state sectional championship.

Sunday, it will drive through the township on its way to a final salute.

Parsippany Mayor James Barberio announced Wednesday that the Vikings will be honored with a motorcade that will wind through neighborhoods near its home field before ending at the high school parking lot, where a cheering crowd is expected to greet them.

The Vikings secured their first-ever state title with a thrilling 20-13 victory over top-seeded Cranford in the NJSIAA North 2 Group III championship Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
