Julia Bozza had previously auditioned for Morristown’s Got Talent, but was not chosen as a finalist.

That didn’t prevent her – with the help of her mother Amy – from trying again. And try they did.

The Bozzas are now finalists, and will sing Colbie Callait's "Try" at this year’s Morristown’s Got Talent on Feb. 25.

“We thought we might audition together, because we love to sing together,” Amy Bozza said. “We heard [the song] in the car one day, and thought it would be a perfect song to make into a duet and the words applied to both of our lives.”

Amy, 43, a mother of four and an administrator at Frelinghuysen Middle School and Julia, 14, an eighth grade student at the same school, are both thrilled to sing for a cause that benefits the Morris Educational Foundation.

“The Morris School District is truly a microcosm of the real world, and my husband and I are so grateful that our children get to experience such a wonderful district,” Amy Bozza said. “We're just two hometown Morristown girls who want to give back to their community.”

While the Bozzas would love to win, they know competition is stiff.

“We've seen the other acts and are blown away by the talent,” Amy Bozza said. “It would be amazing if we won, as Julia has tried out and not made the show in the past and it has been wonderful to see her hard work validated by making the show this year. We love that her brothers see her work so hard at her music and it would definitely help send them the message that hard work pays off.”

Leading up to the competition they plan to practice, spend time with their family of six, and enjoy some of Amy’s baked macaroni and cheese, Julia’s favorite dish.

Julia Bozza can be seen in March as Belle in the Frelinghuysen Middle School production of “Beauty and the Beast.”

Amy Bozza will continue writing her blog, Amy’s Real Life.

Both plan to keep singing.
