Roundup: Pequannock edges Jefferson in North 1 Group II

Senior guard Carly Hausleben scored at the buzzer as Pequannock squeaked past Jefferson, 52-51, in a NJSIAA North 1 Group II opening-round girls basketball game on Monday night.

Hauselben finished with 25 points, four rebounds and two assists for the eighth-seeded Panthers (19-7). Pequannock junior guard Carly Klimek had nine points and eight steals.

Freshman guard Taylor Langan scored 14 points for No. 9 Jefferson (16-9). Falcons junior forward Julia Murawinski scored 11 points, leaving her 13 points short of 1,000 for her career.

Mountain Lakes 51, Wallkill Valley 36: Lakers junior Grainger Rosati scored a game-high 13 points in the North 1 Group II opener. Senior guard Alyssa Sebesto added 11 points for Mountain Lakes (19-5), which will face New Milford on Wednesday. Junior guard Brielle Hilbert led Wallkill Valley with 12 points.

Morristown 51, Hackensack 36: Junior forward Abby Schubiger totaled 21 points and eight rebounds for the fifth-seeded Colonials (19-5) in North 1 Group IV. Sophomore guard Kayla Bush scored 10 points.

Lincoln 50, Whippany Park 23: Senior guard Kayla Wrigley led the visiting Wildcats (10-16) with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the North 2 Group II opening round. Junior guard Mayada Ahmed added five points, four rebounds and two assists.

Montclair 46, Randolph 30: Senior guard Cynthia Meringer scored 13 points as the 14th-seeded Rams (12-12) fell in North 1 Group IV.

New Milford 52, Lenape Valley 26: Junior Eldina Kucevic had nine points and four rebounds for the 12th-seeded Patriots (11-12) in North 1 Group II. Grace Conney had six points and three assists.

Bernards 63, Morris Tech 34: Senior guard Marisa Lansing led the 14th-seeded Devils (13-9) with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists in North 2 Group II. Junior forward Danielle Canning had 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Boys Basketball

Hanover Park 62, Bernards 46: Junior guard John Crown scored 25 points to lead the third-seeded Hornets (19-8) in North 2 Group II. Senior forward Brad Daugherty totaled 15 points and 13 rebounds. Junior forward Donny Dattolo had 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Morristown 65, Ridgewood 58: Senior Jack Mongey led the 11th-seeded Colonials (13-10) in North 1 Group IV. Sophomore Kevin Hoehn scored 20 points.

Rutherford 40, Parsippany 38: Senior forward Hayden Cerrato scored 15 points for the 12th-seeded Red Hawks (9-15) in North 2 Group II. Junior guard Declan Devens scored 11 points.

Arts 74, Whippany Park 69: Junior forward Mark Basista totaled 20 points, six steals, five rebounds and three assists for the 10th-seeded Wildcats (11-12) in North 2 Group II. Junior guard Ryan Gaynor had 10 points. Junior guard Joe Michalesky chipped in 15 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Lodi 50, Newton 46: Senior forward Aiden Black had 11 points, three rebounds and two steals for the sixth-seeded Braves (15-9) in North 1 Group II. Junior guard Samir Wheeler had nine points and four rebounds.
