A man wielding a pocket knife stole cash and cigarettes from the Grab and Go convenience store in Pequannock early Wednesday morning, according to police.

The Pequannock Police Department and the Morris County Sheriffs Department are looking for a suspect described as a "large white male" who allegedly entered the store at 341 Route 23 South. Police responded to a call about the robbery received at 3:54 a.m.

The store clerk told Patrolman Christopher Nelson that a white male exited what appeared to be a tan or light brown, early 1990s Honda sedan and enter the store. The man approached the store clerk with a pocket knife and threatened to stab him if he did not turn over the store's money, according to the report. The man then asked for a pack of Newport 100 cigarettes and fled the area with approximately $300 in cash.

Police said the man was wearing a black ski mask, a black "Wu Tang" sweatshirt with the words "Brooklyn Zoo" in yellow lettering and a picture of a monkey in the middle of the sweatshirt.

Calls to the store on Wednesday morning were not answered.

The Pequannock Police Detective Bureau was assisted at the scene by the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative Section. The case is under active investigation. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Det. James Mandeville at 973-835-1700 ext. 168.
